Progressive education, as the name says, it involves advanced and progressive way of thinking about learning. Here, the mentor is a co-learner and involves in knowledge shring than knowledge transfer. Progressive education welcomes student-centric learning where students are the active players who learn by raising questions. In this knowledge sharing ecosystem growth happens in all possible ways where knowledge is constructed based on external artifacts. Students try solving issues in multiple problem solving ways and conceptualise a real life simulation of the concept unpacked through project-based learning.

The New Age education for Gen Alpha learners is based on flexibility, skill development, and adaptability to embrace changes when and how they come. Flexibility lies in the core of the progressive education system which involves an equal learning space for mentors and learners to collaborate and construct knowledge from the external artifacts. Learners, at the centre of the inquiry cycle, lead the process by raising challenging questions and aiming to solve them through a wide range of flexible and feasible approaches involving creative, critical, and problem solving skills. There is no fixed rule of the learning game, except all should be open minded and culturally respectful and compassionate towards their cohort. Of course, there is a value added on holistic upbringing where not only intellectual, social, emotional skills are inclcated but also the adversity quotient and happiness quotient are triggered.

On the other hand, walking a step back is the structured alternate schooling system based on predefined philosophies of Montessori, Waldorf, or religious-based education. There is less scope for the window to welcome a radical change in the philosophies, rather just reinforce the experiential hands on creative approach followed. Regardless to say, as there is a limited degree of flexibility, the adaptability quotient of withstanding a huge technological shift in the age of humans and robots is on the lower side.

It is as simple as picking up the learning pebbles from the real life soil. Isn’t that interesting? Experiential learning creates a long term retention of knowledge as students get to engage and reflect on concepts by connecting the knowledge strings with the real life scenarios. Positive reinforcement in rewarding good behaviours -is an effective strategy of classroom management. Explaining students to avoid mistakes through logical consequences and restorative practices-are proactive ways of encouraging them to take responsibility for their actions and make amends when they've harmed others. These form a part of self-regulation practices.

For the best learning outcome, a school needs to be a growing ecosystem which is as informal and flexible for students to bloom freely. The students needs to feel at home in expressing themselves without any inhibition, social desirability bias, and fear. A school needs to provide a sense of autonomy to all its stakeholders in being reflective and independent thinkers. A warm happy family is needed where team members are compassionate towards each other and their surroundings through consistent understanding of the importance of being environmentally competent. This is probably an ideal school.
